I am not an actor, yet.

It was a beautiful day in Hollywood as I lunched with director Mitch Glazer at the Terrace Restaurant in the Sunset Towers where they host the Vanity Fair after party to the Oscars. I won't lie when I say I was a little nervous and overly excited to meet him. We had exchanged a few humorous messages before we met up and I had obviously done some IMDB searching prior too.

I have my mother to thank for the wonderful lunch for they met...a number of years ago (I won't go aging anyone who doesn't look as old as they do). He was absolutely charming and considering that he is in post production of his own written and directed movie Passion Play (click the link to check out the odd combination of cast members - really interesting), he is clearly busy and doesn't need to be taking some twenty year old out for lunch who is desperately trying to get into the business. But in the end that's really how kind of a person he is. He was sincere in all of his questions and making sure that whatever I do I should run by him first.

I learned a lot about the movie and much about his daughter who is just a bit older then me and is interested in the acting as well. Apparently she recently did a clip on 90210 as the drummer in a rock band.

Speaking of bands, I told him about going to see my friend's boyfriend's band Burn Down the Mission (they are incredible, I suggest checking them out) and explained that how most people I was introduced to in the crowd claimed to be an actor. I was thinking to myself that it is impossible that all of these people are actually actors and I started asking them what they had done (pretty much prying into what was shown on their resume) to discover that they were pretty much self proclaimed.

When asked about what I do or why I am down here I am almost embarrassed to say 'acting' because everyone down here is looking to do the same thing, it is overly cliche and at the end of the day, I am your typical 20 year old blonde that people tend to shovel in and out of auditions like a pooper-scooper. Great.

The only thing on my acting resume thus far is playing the role of a singing/dancing NUN - which I think I did quite well, I might add - but this is not credible enough to hand to any talent agent. I mean, these people aren't actors yet! They might as well say, I would like to be an actor...but right now I am parking people's hundred thousand dollar cars at valet - or at least say you are in school! Why not be honest?  I find it sounds a little snobbish to go around parading your 'title' as an actor as if you just graduated with a PHD in psych at the top of your class at some astound school. I also think people aren't going to want to help you if you just blurt it out. It's like saying you are a millionaire when all you can afford is cheap sushi but you go because its the cool thing to do.

Well that was quite the rant, but I guess what I am saying is that I am not an actor. I can act and would like to be taken seriously as an actor, but for now I am still just Liv from Toronto  -whose love for raw fish is on the higher end of the expenses scale.

Crowd Control

Yesterday was anything but normal when it comes to your celebrity sightings let alone casual run-ins. I went out for dinner with a bunch of girls from the store and a few of their friends. As one girl catches up with Bradley Cooper via BBM to my right, I can see David Spade get into his amazingly-ugly, 20 year old car to my left. At this point I feel like Dorothy ... I am really not in Toronto anymore. Crowd control needs to be executed because apparently my table is getting more attention then Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend is and I can see that he is a little annoyed. Every person who comes around asks me how I wound up with these girls and all I keep thinking is how lucky I am as well. I mean, not only do they know EVERYONE, but when we skip across to one of the new hot spots across the street, we march right to the front of the line, no questions asked, and walk right in.

Molly Sims later comes rolling in followed by Ryan Seacrest (who apparently my friend tried to be set up with at one point - no big deal). Brandon Davis walks by, although I only catch the back of his head, and to apparently no one's surprise but my own, Taye Diggs comes up and gives my friend a HUGE friendly hug and chat away. I can now see Brent Bolthouse (Heidi's old boss - cannot wait to see her in person) - OH, and there is Samantha Ronson behind the DJ booth so my night quickly turns into Lindsay Lohan patrol - apparently she is suppose to be joining us and - unlike the tabloids - is actually a very sweet person!

Just like any lady's guide book should tell you, you must leave when the going is good (not when they turn the lights on and push everyone out the door and reveal what you TRULY look like). Unable to find Lindsay, the girls say that I'll probably meet her another time -(I'm still in shock that apparently I was in the same building as her) we head home.

At this point I am exhausted, not because of being out late but because my brain physically hurts from trying to remember everyone I saw! I have RANDOM people twittering me because apparently we were at the same bar? They want to meet Lindsay too.... uh no.

The most important thing about these girls though, is that they do not let the Hollywood scene get to them. They are level headed, smart, fun and hilarious and always making sure that I am having a good time and are all concerned for my general well being. I really couldn't ask for a more entertaining group of girls.

Well I won't be tapping my ruby shoes to go home any time soon, but I know they have a planned expiration date so I better enjoy this while I can!

OH and I went and got frozen yogurt for Terri Hatcher and her uber-stylish daughter yesterday while they shopped for her daughter's grad. You are welcome Terri.

HOW could I forget?

It's as though I forgot to tell you the world was going to end... I have decided to do the online audition for GLEE!! Check out my competitors on the website... http://www.myspace.com/gleeauditions

So you have got to do a little one minute 'introduction' before you sing and so far I have found most of the entries to be a little...bland. I mean I haven't gone over all 1000 of them but for the most part I want to yell, "CLEARLY YOUR FAVOURITE SHOW ON TELEVISION IS GLEE AND THEY KNOW IT IS INSPIRING BECAUSE THEY CREATED IT BUT SAY SOMETHING UNIQUE FOR ONCE!" So I made my one minute little intro and tried to be 'funny' but who knows, I may just be fully embarrassing myself.

The next part of the audition is obviously the vocal part. Now these walls are paper thin and I can literally hear when the toilet paper roll is being yanked at next door - gross I know, so their is no way I was about to start singing passionately at the top of my lungs. Besides that, I haven't really had any vocal training since high school and it's not like I can naturally sing like Julie Andrews, SO I did some research and found a vocal coach in the area that is going to help me get back on track! (Maybe he'll tell me I'm so bad now, that's it's not even worth it in which case I will just delete this whole post out of pure shame).

So I will let you know when and if I even get around to doing it, and even if you think I suck, I DEMAND A GOLD STAR.

Winter Weather

Well unfortunately I think I brought the terrible weather down with me and the sunny skies went escaping to the north! Although, I am more then willing to cope! I have established a small group of girlfriends that work and hang out in my friends' store. It is literally the local hang out and we spend most of the time trying on all the new arrivals and deciding what they want to send back or not. It is beyond fun - especially when the stylists come in!

My celeb count went up today as I saw Kristin Cavallari and Lo Bosworth filming an episode of The Hills! Kristin and the crew even came into the store later to ask the girls if they can film at a later date! They all knew Kristin and organized a dinner with her for next Friday (envious), after her trip back from TORONTO - cue me in! I piped up awkwardly at the 'Toronto' portion of the conversation and then the girls introduced me to her and I shook her hand. She is SO unbelievably sweet and NOTHING like they make her out to be on the show.

Here is Kristin Cavallari for those of you who are unfamiliar...(believe me I will let you know the SECOND I see Heidi).
She is just as beautiful in person...

So on 'making it' portion of my blog, I have two lunches next week. One with the son and daughter in law of the mysterious "Mr. and Mrs. A" and another with a BIG TIME DIRECTOR who just finished a movie with Megan Fox. Now don't get overly excited because it's not as though I am interviewing for a role or anything, but these people are so gracious to make sure that I am going in the right direction! They want to know about my plan (which apparently I need to sort of make) and what my goals are while I am here! I am graciously looking forward to both!

On another note...SO awkward, but I thought I would include it because I find it amusing and I know you all will too...I have two guys that want to be set up with me and another friend wants to sort of 'introduce me' to this guy next week at her boyfriend's concert. I have NEVER been out on an actual date before so I said no to the first two - especially since my horoscope that day told me that I shouldn't go out on a date with someone based on a pity vote (WEIRD RIGHT? SAME DAY!). Anyways, I am going next Tuesday, luckily I'll have a friend with me so it won't be that strange.

I am really enjoying my time here so far and I hope that these entries about all these people with no names don't get TOO confusing but as I get to know all these people more and more I feel so guilty exploiting their lives all over the internet when most of them aren't even aware. Their are so many more stories I could fill you in on, but right now that's about all I can share.

OH and my sister is sneaky like a ninja.

On my own!

Well it is my official first day on my own in LA and I am very excited. My cousin spent the entire weekend with me, showing me around, introducing me to the most exciting people and made sure that I was well taken care of. I am fully settling into my apartment today, will definitely be doing some food shopping and then I will be getting in touch with some old friends who I haven't seen in FOREVER.

Before I get into anything else, my celeb stories are pretty funny. Derek Hough, from Dancing With The Stars broke out in a full dance routine while waiting in a tanning salon (yes he was in a tanning salon), and one of Ziggy Marley's crew pinched me on my behind while waiting for sushi - so awkward.

Anyways,  I have been forwarded along the pictures with Oscar De La Renta, luckily we took one without me because I have decided to refuse posting the one WITH him - it is just that awful. I also have a few photos of the models playing POLO in the middle of Holt Renfrew. OH SO CUTE.

You have to agree that the photo of Oscar is really adorable.

Well after my food shopping, I plan on going to hang out at my friends' store which is right in the middle of Beverly Hills and a big hit with the stars. They are two sisters who started the boutique and it has been nothing but successful. A few nights ago one of the two were introduced to Rachel Zoe - one of THE top stylist to the stars - which is HUGE and they are hoping she will stop by sometime soon.

It's going to be a good day!

I have ARRIVED!!

Well it is my OFFICIAL first day in LA and let me tell you I am already having a fabulous time! I have not moved into my apartment yet (because the one I wanted isn't available till Sunday - bummer). BUT I am staying with my cousin's friend who is sweet enough to house me until Sunday. The people I have met already live unbelievable lives and know the craziest people - example: Lady Gaga's landlord, all of them are friends with L. Lohan and I have even met someone who dated Bradley Cooper (beyond jealous). I refuse to name names because I feel it to be a little rude and exploit their lives online, but I will still fill you in on all the little stories (filled with juicy details - or as much as possible so you don't go selling these stories to tabloids, haha).

I've already seen quite a handful of celebrities and apparently I no longer am seriously star struck because I casually had a conversation with LMFAO since they were on my flight. My cousin can spot a celebrity 5 miles away, half of who I don't even know! Although I was the one who spotted Jane Fonda at breakfast.

Learning about this celeb culture is so beyond fascinating because most of these people really know most of the celebs and what their personalities are like. Mostly everyone is at Coachella right now which sounds like a ton of fun but I think we may just plan on lying out and catching some rays (my pasty Canadian skin needs it).

I don't have much to tell you at the moment but I couldn't leave you hanging on my first day!! I'm gonna start my celebrity count on the side and we can see how big it gets.

I AM IN SUNNY LOS ANGELES AND I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD!

"Femininity is the escence of a woman..."

I am currently more exhausted leaving Toronto to perform my final presentation then when I arrived sick! It is strange to think that it was suppose to be tomorrow that I was to be going to LA. I am almost happy to have postponed the trip to Friday because I think my stress levels would have been much higher then they currently are at the moment.

It still IS a beautiful day in Toronto and what a beautiful day for the wonderful fashion genius and icon, Oscar De La Renta. For someone who makes clothes for women as a living he can certainly dress himself pretty immaculately as well. His perfectly tailored and his tanned skin (not quite 'Valentino' tanned) only added to how sweet and charming he really is.

He was actually very funny too, speaking about women who come up to him and talk about "the dress I wore last night that you designed in this colour, that falls like this, etc" explaining that his brain was the size of a mosquito and he has no idea what they are ever talking about. He said he can certainly recognize all of his clothing but he can't remember off of the top of his head what he made last season when he is already working on the season two summer ahead - all said through his very cute Dominican accent!

After pushing through all of the Oscar-lovin' ladies, I managed to sneak in, introduce myself and get a picture with him. He looks great in the photo - myself not so hot, which is to bad because I really liked my outfit. After I do some serious 'boosting and contrasting' to the image I'll consider posting the photo...ew. I guess it's like talking the talk and not walking the walk...well the camera is no longer in my possession so I'll post it another time. 2 days left until LA!!

Star Struck

I have already had my first celebrity sighting and I haven't even left Toronto yet! The oh-so-cute Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger were walking north on Yonge Street down by College Street (I don't know what either of us were all doing down there). I later spotted them at the classy restaurant, One in Yorkville.

Now normally I pass out, turn blotchy red and run away at the sight of a celebrity (ask my sister, I am the most embarrassing person to be around - or Kanye - we shared an elevator once and I almost bit off my own hand, passed out from holding my breath and almost went permanently cross eyed). I've already been told by some of my friends that if my celebrity-nerves kick in while I am in LA, I will be in a LOT of trouble. People are apparently just so blasé over celebrities that if I don't keep my cool I might as well have a sign on my back that says FOREIGN TOURIST.

My run in today with my new pals Joshua and Diane (I saw them twice, so we must be buds, right?) was almost like a test from the celebrity gods to see if I was prepared enough for what is in store. I think I passed. I managed to not make a face, make any awkward noises or smile awkwardly... although I did contemplate chasing them up the street. I figured for fun I'll keep a celebrity tally on the side once I get down there.

Oscar Tomorrow!

In the words of Rachel Zoe... I DIE, literally.

Rather then trying to live a fabulous life, I am stuck at home with tonsillitis. GREAT. I hope that none of you ever get it because it is the most uncomfortable and painful sickness in the world. Any other student would be pleased that they had to get their finals pushed back giving them more time to study but unlike ME, it poses a bit of a dilemma.

My 61 days have to be changed to 59! I am so ill that there was no way I was going to be prepared to go for Wednesday. It's not the END of the world, but I am a little crushed and 59 days just sounds a lot more lame then 61...bummer.

But when one door closes, another opens. Now with more time on my hands I have been invited to drinks with OSCAR DE LA RENTA. No. Big. Deal.

Okay so it's not as though he is going to wine and dine me personally but my mom was invited to his private trunk show and I am going to be her 'plus one'. Still very chic...

Oscar De La Renta is one of the most amazing designers of his time. He truly has a classic taste and understands what women want out of their clothing. Just like a child, I run towards shiny objects! Now, I don't go ahead and shove it in my mouth but if it is THAT beautiful I always say it looks delicious enough to eat.

Here is a mix and match of his spring/summer, pre-fall and fall 2010 collections. These are some of my personal favourites!

Alright, well you know what is coming next...WHAT ON EARTH DO I WEAR? I guess what is the most important thing right now is that my tonsils go down because right now they are the size of grapefruits.

Regardless, I am overly excited! I think he is just wonderful and brilliant and above all, INCREDIBLE at what he does.

I'll keep you posted on my outfit decisions soon! Now I am back up to 7 days...let the countdown restart!

Exhaustingly Excited

Well unfortunately as things in my life are starting to look better, my health is starting to crumble. I literally can't swallow and I am physically exhausted! Not a good way to arrive in the sunny Los Angeles! Then again, warm weather will probably do me some good as opposed to this rain and muck. I am chugging gallons of water and trying to sleep it off (as well as take a teaspoon of silver every half hour - right mom?).

On a happier note! I had a WONDERFUL lunch with Mr. and Mrs. A who made sure that I would be well taken care of while I was down in LA. They had just come back recently from visiting their family and told me some fun stories of their celebrity dinner guests (Jack Nicholson apparently couldn't make it - HA). We also spoke a long time about Mr. A's book about ghosts which I was sincerely interested in. He has some of the most amazing stories and they said they even conducted a seance while they were down there (spooky)! None the less- fascinating for me, probably not so much for you.

As the time approaches for me to disembark on my fabulous journey, I am hearing about more and more people who will be down in LA while I am there as well! I am thrilled because I have already created a small social network of friends to hang out with!

According to my countdown I have 7 days, 4 hours, 57 minutes until the day has arrived!

Sorry for such a quick post but my bed looks wonderful and I am about to go dive into it! ADIOS

Fashion Faux Pas?

It has been QUITE the exhausting weekend and my room looks as though a bomb has exploded because their are literally clothes everywhere. Packing is getting more and more difficult because the clothes that I need to pack, all of the sudden I am needing to wear! We have basically missed spring here in Toronto and have gone straight to Summer! Now I am not complaining but this made my night out to Toronto Fashion Week extraordinary difficult. I must say my outfit was a little lame (all black), but nothing is really WRONG with all black, I personally love it and it is slimming to say the least.

The shows were fun and my girlfriend Kristin pointed out what her job of the week was and it was FASHION POLICE! How fun is that? They all wore trench coats and big shades and made sure everything was running smoothly! I watched Jeanne Beker "tweet" away as the models came down the runway and even saw the photographer from the show "Look-a-like". Kristin and I wanted to find him after the show and tell him to cast us as Cameron Diaz and Anna Kournikova (haha).

Going back to the difficulties of packing! I went up to my chalet this weekend because the lifts were OPEN AND RUNNING! I didn't believe it on my way up since their was not an ounce of snow to be seen, but as I approached the hill, I couldn't believe it! It reached 30 degrees at one point and people were out skiing!! So I struggled to pack ski gear amongst my shorts and sandals, but in the end I ended up rocking my jean shorts and a t-shirt along with my ski boots! It was an experience I will NEVER forget...some girls were even in bikinis (I mean it was definitely do-able but if you took a tumble...OUCH)!

Anyways, I am 9 days away until I go to LA and I must say I am getting a little nervous! I just have to keep myself focused and confident and I know I will have a good time! I have my lunch with the mysterious "Mr. and Mrs. A" tomorrow so I will let everyone know how that goes. Besides that, the packing continues! I am trying to be seriously smart about what I bring (more realistic). I did a huge spring-cleaning-closet-clean-out and gave a huge handful of clothes to my beautiful younger cousins. Although my sister managed to sneak in their before hand and snatch some things away...I wish there was such things as hand-me-ups because my sister has a fabulous wardrobe.

Anyways, I am actually getting a little emotional over leaving as well! Two months is a long time without seeing some of the people you expect to see everyday! So today I say goodbye to my sister and I think I may shed a tear or two which she won't be happy about...luckily their will be no one around for me to embarrass her in front of. GOT TO GO PACK!
